Chamber seeking donations for purchase of American flags

Thursday, January 02, 2014 - Updated: 3:32 AM

CANAJOHARIE -- One of the Canajoharie-Palatine Chamber of Commerce's projects for 2014 is to add new American flags to the village of Canajoharie. There are 100 openings for the flags in the village currently, and the village only has 25. The flags, which include a pole, are $47 each, and if purchased in bulk, the chamber will receive a better price.

The flags will be flown on Memorial Day and each national holiday, and will be used for many years. The names of the donors will be listed in the C-S-E in May, Chamber President Dolores Jacksland said. Flags may be donated in memory or in honor of individuals.

The chamber has acquired donations for 10 flags to date, and hopefully will be able to purchase at least 25 more.

Jacksland said the chamber would also like to acquire flags for Palatine Bridge, although the immediate goal for the village is to help purchase new Christmas decorations.
