-- Destination Europe to hold fundraising chili and baked goods sale Feb. 1

CANAJOHARIE -- Destination Europe, a group of Canajoharie and Sharon Springs students traveling to London, Paris and Rome over the course of nine days this summer, will hold a fundraising chili sale in front of Ace Hardware from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1. There will be baked goods available. Destination Europe's fundraising activities will continue the evening of Feb. 2 with a Tailgate Party at the Van Alstyne Homestead, Moyer St.

CANAJOHARIE -- On Saturday, Feb. 1, there will be a tailgate party at the VanAlstyne Homestead on Moyer St. in Canajoharie. The event will raise money to benefit the student group Destination Europe, which includes students from Canajoharie and Sharon Springs, who will be traveling to London, Paris and Rome this summer.

Each person is already spending $3,300-$3,600 to go on the trip, and the funds raised at this event will be put toward extras, such as a night trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower, tipping bus drivers and tour guides.

The event will feature a live band, Chalkdust Torture, with Blake Smith, Tim Field, Dwayne Heroth, Chris Hand, Mike O'Connor, Marc Vachon, and Aaron White. The band will play from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Admission is $10 and will include food. Beverages will be sold by the Fort Rensselaer Club for a nominal fee. There will be several raffles throughout the evening as well.

-- Booths space available for Feb. 15 FFA Indoor Flea Market and Craft Show

ST. JOHNSVILLE -- The Mohawk Valley FFA will hold the first of what is intended to be an annual Indoor Flea Market and Craft Show at the OESJ Senior High School Gym and Cafeteria on Feb. 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The FFA is looking for donations of garage sale items to sell. To donate, contact Chris Smith at (518) 568-2011. The FFA is also looking to rent booths to vendors. All booths must be reserved and paid for by Friday, Feb. 7.
