Need some vocabulary for your next party?

Try these terms out on your guests:

Gap elimination adjustment: The amount of projected state aid that is withheld from a school district to help close the overall state budget deficit.

Combined wealth ratio: A measure of the average level of property and adjusted growth income wealth behind each student. The higher the combined wealth ratio, the greater the potential is to generate funds locally and the greater ability to pay school taxes.

Canajoharie and other western Montgomery County schools have ratios of less than 0.5.

Wealthier, similar-sized schools like Sag Harbor and Port Jefferson have CWR’s of 5.1 and 3.2, respectively.
