Charges filed in connection with Minden dog seizure

MINDEN—Three people are facing charges in connection with the seizure of 51 canines at 7145 state Route 5S early this month.

In a news release issued by State Police on Monday, it was noted that the individuals, who previously lived at that address, were charged by State Police out of Fonda with 52 counts of animal cruelty in violation of section 353 of the Agriculture and Markets Law. 

Diane and Paul Marriott of Center Street, Fort Plain, and Joseph Marriott of Park Street, Gloversville, were charged after a complaint was filed and 51 dogs were seized from a barn at the town of Minden location.

Joseph Marriott was additionally charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana for allegedly possessing more than 16 ounces of marihuana, second-degree aggravated harassment for allegedly posting a threat to a local shelter employee, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The three subjects were arraigned in Minden Town Court and released on bail to reappear on Feb. 25.
