A love story

It should be evident to everyone that our library with its Greek Revival facade might actually be a “Temple of Love”. Peruse the shelves and you will find some of the most enduring love stories.

Who, my age wasn’t introduced to Cinderella in the 1950’s. Hero, heroine, villains, dilemma, resolution, all the time-tested ingredients. I back it up with the following quote — “It will please the young and call a smile to the faces of the old, who will remember when they were delighted with the story of Cinderella and the little glass slipper.” Godey’s Lady’s Book and Magazine 1855.

In print, audio, e-book and dvd, hundreds of them available here through the Mohawk Valley Library System, you are sure to find your own favorite love story.

Continuing this theme, an encore class will be held on Redwork embroidery, Tuesday, February 19 from 6-8 p.m. This program is free and open to the public.

Coming in March, the Fort Plain Free Library will be offering another craft program featuring ‘Scherenschnitte’ — an intricate German paper-cutting art. This class will be offered on Tuesday, March 5 from 6-8 p.m.

Also coming soon, the library will be offering adult basic computer skill classes starting the second week of March. Times and dates will be determined based on public interest. Please call (518) 993-4646 or visit us to sign up.
