-- "An Evening With The Stars" final planning Feb. 13

CANAJOHARIE -- The final planning meeting for the event, "An Evening With The Stars" will be Thursday, Feb. 13, at Twilight Gardens at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Jesse Quackenbush will provide updates about the event's progress. If you sold tickets, please turn in ticket revenue/unsold tickets. Address information for limo tickets should also be turned in. If you have pledged an item for the silent auction, please bring your item with you.

To date, approximately 95 tickets have been sold, this is close to the goal. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, there are still some available. Tickets may be purchased by calling Quackenbush at (505) 301-9888 or by email at

-- CCS Board of Education meeting Thursday, Feb. 13

CANAJOHARIE -- The Canajoharie Central School Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 in the high school conference room.

-- Valentine’s Day Couples Trivia Night Feb. 14

CANAJOHARIE -- The Canajoharie Library is hosting something a little different for Valentine’s Day this year. On Friday, Feb. 14, couples (and singles) can compete in four rounds of general knowledge trivia to win fabulous prizes.

“I am an avid trivia lover so I thought this would be a perfect time to try something completely new at the library” said Director Leah LaFera.

The two hour evening starts at 6 p.m. and will take place in the library’s Great Hall. Couples and individuals can call or stop in to purchase tickets. Each trivia team will be made up of 2-4 people. 

If you have a team already, let the library know at sign-up or the night of the event. Tickets are $20 for a couple ($18 for members) and Individual tickets are $12 or ($10 for members). 

Included in the ticket price is free appetizers, desserts, and a cash bar. Beer and wine only. Admission includes a token for one free drink.

-- FFA to hold Indoor Flea Market and Craft Show Feb. 15

ST. JOHNSVILLE -- The Mohawk Valley FFA will hold the first of what is intended to be an annual Indoor Flea Market and Craft Show at the OESJ Senior High School Gym and Cafeteria, 44 Center St. on Feb. 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The FFA is looking for donations of garage sale items to sell. To donate, contact There will be over 30 vendors with over 1,700 square feet of products including crafts, food, art, garage sale items, jewelry, wood crafts and more.

Entry is just $1 at the door. Concessions will also be available for purchase.

-- Fort Plain Autism Support Group to host movie night Feb. 19

FORT PLAIN -- The Fort Plain Autism Support Group -- parents and guardians of children with special needs, family members, educators, therapists, students, pastors, Sunday school teachers and the public -- will host a movie night featuring the film “Normal People Scare Me” Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Plain United Methodist Church, 39 Center St. and Lydius Street (side entrance). -- Valley Choralaires to resume concert rehearsals Feb. 25

CANAJOHARIE -- President Dorothy Morrison, of the Valley Choralaires, announces that the Valley Choralaires will resume concert rehearsals Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Canajoharie Reformed Church House located on Front St. Rehearsals will continue every Tuesday at 7 p.m. Anyone wishing to join the Choralaires is welcome to attend a rehearsal. As in the past, the group will be directed by Alison Wallace, and accompanied on the piano by Janet Shuster.

The first concert of 2014 will be the Spring Concert May 18.

-- Spring Fling Fashion Show to be held March 23

CANAJOHARIE -- Canajoharie business Twenty-Two will hold a "Spring Fling Fashion Show" on Sunday, March 23, from 3-5 p.m. at Gino's Pizzeria, 49 Church St., featuring champagne, mimosas and hors d'oeuvres. More details are forthcoming.

-- Fourth Annual Health Fair on April 5

FORT PLAIN -- Experience a day of Zumba, free goods, demonstrations, free messages, and healthy foods at the Fourth Annual Health and Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 5, at Harry Hoag Elementary School in Fort Plain.

Sponsored by the Fort Plain and Canajoharie Central School’s Nutrition and Wellness Committees, the event also features salad wars (where you can enjoy a free sample and watch them being made), and a biggest loser competition. You can sign-up and weigh in as part of a six-week weight loss competition.
