FORT PLAIN -- The Fort Plain Central School Class of 1973 held their 40th reunion in July of 2013.

The theme of the reunion, catered by Alan Knoblaugh and Michelle, was a Hawaiian Luau.

The reunion was held at the Elks Lodge in Nelliston where about 50 people attended. Each classmate received their name in Hawaiian, a lei at the door, and a CD of photos from previous reunions, compliments of Vance and Myra Heroth.

A moment of silence was held "in memory" of the following seven deceased classmates: Randy Weaver, Colleen Mykel, Dara (Fisher) Horning, Mike Hazzard, Diane (Rathburn) Hughes, Dave Sitterly and Kim Walters. A candle lit ceremony was performed in front of their photos. A prayer was given by former president Kim Shutz.

Prizes were given to Dave Hazzard and Ken Watkins for attending their first reunion. They stated "they'll never miss another one."

Music was provided by D.J. Walt Maaser. The class was entertained by professional dancers, Vance and Myra Heroth, who thrilled the class to a "special Hawaiian dance."

"Thank you" gifts were given to the committee (Karen, Vance, Randy, Dawn, Elaine, Carolyn, Merrill and Steve) by president, Betty Sanders, who also received a corsage from the class for her appreciation and work in organizing the reunion.

A class photo was taken by Erica (Polmateer) Darling in front of a "Big Rig" owned by Burton Dillenbeck.
