From the C-S-E files - Down Memory Lane - It’s Been A Long Day: Monday, March 5, 1979, started off as a bad day for Frank Chatterton, and didn’t get any better as he and his family were forced to evacuate their town of Palatine residence as swirling, ice-jammed waters of the Caroga Creek overflowed its banks, flooding the premises. Later in the morning, gazing from the Route 5 bridge on the scene below, Frank gets a full view of the scene, evidenced by ice jams in the foreground which occupy the creek bed, while in the background the family residence suffers from the high, fast waters.

Canajoharie

Twenty Years Ago

For the first time in two or three decades the village mayors of several Montgomery County municipalities got together for an informal chat about current affairs affecting their communities. The meet was called by Fultonville Mayor Gary Gifford, and held in the Canajoharie village office. No formal agenda was adopted for the meeting, the major result of which was the tentative setting of the third Thursday of each month as a regular meeting time for the new group, calling itself the Montgomery County Villages Association.
