Arkell Hall Adult Home News

CANAJOHARIE — The following news from Arkell Hall Adult Home is from Feb. 24 through Feb. 28:

Arkell's week started off with Sunday afternoon bingo.

Bible Study class was held Monday, Feb. 25, with Mary Simpson.

Eight residents participated in an exercise class Tuesday, Feb. 26, and found themselves "Movin to the Music" with Linda.

Also, on Tuesday afternoon, eighteen residents gathered for a short resident meeting, followed by the weekly coffee klatch, discussing the topic "The Academy Awards" and "The History of the Oscar Statue."

The weekly Wednesday church service was led by Activities Director Linda Klump, delivering a message on Lent and Rosa Parks, as Parks' statue unveiling was scheduled for that day. Faith, hope and strength was the focus, coinciding with Bible verses and quotes from Rosa Parks.

Wednesday afternoon swirled into a spur-of-the-moment mini series topic on the "Making of a Legend" — a video shot at the home where "Gone with the Wind" was made. On Thursday and Friday, a viewing of "Gone With the Wind" and a "Gone With the Wind" party were held, which tied into the Academy Awards theme.

Father Murphy was in to visit. He joined everyone for dinner Thursday, Feb. 28.

The foot doctor was also in Thursday for his treatment of the residents, as well as Arkell's on-site hairdresser, Nancy Davorn.

Mr. Prime, Eve Fuelleman, Evelyn Casler and Bernice Kelley all went out to the Wednesday senior card party. Mrs. Casler went out for ladies night out card party.

Mrs. Heiser's granddaughter Doreen joined her for dinner this week.

Nine residents went to the indoor Winter Walking Program at Arkell Center.

Andrea Montayne and Susan Keith were in to see their moms, Ruth Austin and Lorraine May. Ellie Sitterley was in to visit Reva McGowan. Anna Pipola went out to lunch with her son-in-law Ed. The Summersons were in to visit family.

Mr. Prime went out to lunch with friends. Dorothy Mailloux was in to serve communion to the catholic residents. Mrs. Frances Shults went out to dinner with daughter, Marsha.

And, this completes another fine week at the hall.
