Free rides available to merged district board of education vote March 19

Saturday, March 16, 2013 - Updated: 3:21 AM

OPPENHEIM — The Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School District is offering free roundtrip bus rides for residents who need transportation to vote in St. Johnsville on Tuesday, March 19 in the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Board of Education election.

The bus will pick up residents at any one of the four fire houses in Oppenheim-Ephratah — Oppenheim, Hilltop and the two Rockwood-Garoga-Lassellsville (RGL) stations — and drive them to the polls at the D.H. Robbins Elementary School in St. Johnsville.

Residents must call the school district office at (518) 568-2014, ext. 104 to arrange a pick-up. Buses will depart Hilltop at 1 p.m., Oppenheim at 1:10 p.m., Rockwood at 3:30 p.m. and Lassellsville at 3:40 p.m.

The rides are being offered in cooperation with the Oppenheim and Lassellsville senior centers.

Because this is a New York State Department of Education referendum, the state Commissioner of Education has established St. Johnsville as the single polling location for the election. Oppenheim-Ephratah and St. Johnsville district officials had requested an additional polling site be established in Oppenheim-Ephratah, but the request was denied.

For further information, please contact Oppenheim-Ephratah Superintendent Anna O’Connell at (518) 568-2014.
