MVLS to receive donations thanks to Holiday Match Program

Wednesday, March 26, 2014 - Updated: 3:02 PM

The Mohawk Valley Library System (MVLS) has received a $1,000 grant from Stewart's Holiday Match Program in support of Youth Services. Stewart's Shops collected donations from customers in their shops between Thanksgiving and Christmas last year, as they have every holiday season since 1986.

The company then matches each donation dollar-for-dollar.

Stewart's customers have donated over $670,000 to the 2013 Holiday Match Program, which is then doubled to $1.34 million, with the Stewart's match.

MVLS appreciates the generosity of Stewart's and their customers.

The Stewart's Holiday Match grant funds will be used to purchase new collections of graphic/comic literature for children and teens to borrow through the 22 member public libraries and branches in Fulton, Montgomery, Schenectady and Schoharie Counties.

These titles will be available for borrowing in time for the 2014 Summer Reading Programs each library holds. Titles are available to all libraries year round in the four counties, maximizing resources and increasing the variety of titles available in the entire region. MVLS's goal is to provide easy access to graphic literature for children and teens through their local public libraries during the summer.
