According to Police Chief Bryan MacFadden, an 89-year-old woman who had been near the Boiling Pot in Wintergreen Park at approximately 2:40 p.m. walked into a fast-running current and was swept downstream forcing a water rescue.

“She was removed 300 yards down river where the water got slower,”

MacFadden said. “She suffered no injuries.”

GAVAC operations manager Mickey Swartz said the extrication took approximately two hours. GAVAC was on standby to provide EMS for the Canajoharie Fire Department rescue team and the patient but no assistance was necessary.
