GLEN — The death of a Schenectady County man killed in a Memorial Day accident at Canajoharie Falls has been attributed to drowning.

That’s according to Montgomery County Undersheriff Jeff Smith on Monday, who said autopsy results on Israel Vazquez, 25, of 1065 Park Ave., Schenectady, confirmed drowning.

Vazquez died after jumping into the pool at the base of the treacherous Canajoharie Falls. Canajoharie Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said Vazquez reportedly was unable to resurface following the mid-afternoon accident.  

Three Amsterdam men face charges of trespass in connection with the incident.
