Ames installation dinner

The Village of Ames Volunteer Fire Department, located in the town of Canajoharie, held the annual instillation dinner of its elected officers at the Winners Circle restaurant in Fonda on June 2 at 7 p.m. ABOVE RIGHT: Ames Fire Chief Alan Dean presented a placket honoring the recipient, Brad Hill, of Ames New York. Hill gave the community 45 years of uninterrupted volunteer service as a member and past officer of the department and has reached a point in his volunteer career to retire from active firefighters service.

Ames Fire Chief Alan Dean presented Captain Ward Arnold Jr., (RIGHT) of the Schoharie Volunteer Fire Department, a fire service K-Saw used for emergency entrance of buildings through materials such as concrete and metal skin buildings for ventilation and emergency entry of fire service personal for fire suppression of evacuation of trapped persons. The Schoharie Volunteer Fire Department suffered terrible losses of building and fire service equipment during the past years disaster of hurricane rain and flooding. The Ames Fire Department donated one of its fire service back up K-Saws, which although may show some typical cosmetic fire service surface wear, is a fully operational fire service first line tool. Chief Deal also presented Captain Arnold with a check in the amount of $500 to assist the Schoharie Volunteer Fire Department with their ongoing efforts to return to fully equipped service.
