Second summer show at Unity Hall attracts 70 attendees

Wednesday, June 25, 2014 - Updated: 2:01 PM

FORT PLAIN -- On Saturday, June 14, Unity Hall held the second show in their Summer Music Series. About 70 attended the event, which featured performances by Sarah Bogran, Karen and Joe, Jocelyn and Christian Arndt, and Stone Soup. All musicians played acoustic, with minimal or no amplification.

"The music and the space sounded wonderful," noted Mohawk Valley Collective, Inc., member Tolga Morawski. "We hope to make our building a destination for musicians, both local and touring — attracting bigger musicians to our area," he continued.

The event raised about $280 toward building work and sound equipment, such as microphones, stands and lighting.

MVC is currently accepting donations of sound equipment, mixers, amps, instruments, PAs, microphones, microphone stands, and other audio gear. MVC will provide donation receipts for donors' taxes.

Unity Hall's next show will take place July 12, with performances by NYC based artist Xenia Rubinos (who's been featured on NPR, in the New Yorker and Wall Street Journal), Ponyhof and CT-based Tinniens, who are currently touring the Northeast.
