Photo submitted - Catholic Daughters install new officers - The newly elected officers of three area courts of Catholic Daughters of the Americas were installed at a ceremonial Installation of Officers on Tuesday, June 19, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk. Officers of Court St Bridget 265 in Ilion, Court Reardon 81 in Newport and Court Catherine Esther 1264 in Canajoharie were installed, with Sister Mary Jo Tallman, parish life director of Blessed Sacrament Church, and District Deputy Mary Morse conducting the installation ceremony. New officers from the Canajoharie Court who were installed were Marlene Nalli as regent, Kathy Walsh as vice regent, Cheryl Benninger as recording secretary, Barbara Hislop as financial secretary, and Terry O’Connell as treasurer. Historic home tour locations chosen

CANAJOHARIE — On August 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Canajoharie-Palatine Chamber of Commerce will host a unique Historic Home Tour. Four of the nine historic homes that attendees will receive a peek into have been announced. 122 Cliff Street still has an original 1938 GE kitchen still in operation. 3 Wheeler St. is a salt box home built in 1600. 63 Otsego St. was built in 1860, and remained with the original owner until 1976. The 26 Moyer St. Episcopal Church was built for the daughter of its creator when she was married.

Nelliston Days schedule posted

NELLISTON — The Nelliston Activities Council celebrates its 21st annual “Nelliston Days” with a craft show and flea market on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, along with village wide garage sales.

This event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. It is held at the Village of Nelliston Park, located three miles west of Exit 29 off the I-90 New York State Thruway, on New York State Route 5, 13 miles west of Fonda and 15 miles east of Little Falls.

There will be food both days. Available at Randy’s Kitchen will be breakfast items and hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sweet sausage, hot sausage, peppers, onions, french fries, salt potatoes and fried dough. Coffee, tea, lemonade, soda and water will also be available. Soft ice cream will be available from Phoebe’s Ice Cream in Fort Plain both days. There will be face painting and free balloons.

Saturday, music will be provided by Big Al’s Rock and Roll Show from Noon to 4 p.m., along with the annual Cruise-In Car Show. Trophies will be awarded. There will also be a chicken barbecue starting at 11 a.m. until sold out. There will be raffles both days with prizes, thanks to many merchant donations. Crafters and flea market vendors will be selling their wares. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police have been invited to attend, along with the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance. A dunking booth will be on hand along with J & M Amusements from Cold Brook, both days.

Sunday, there will be soft jazz and east listening music provided by Jan Cronkhite and Jim Miller from 1 to 4 p.m. There will also be a special attraction of world famous Tony Mattioli, of Mountain Cycle Performance, and his Nitro Harley motorcycle with a demonstration at 2 p.m. Also, Kevin Florian’s World of R/C Cars and demonstrations will take place and the AMVETS Riders Post 2000 will have a motorcycle ride-in. Christman’s Cycle Shop will be there, along with the Sno-Pro Shop.

Admission to the park is free.

The Nelliston Activities Council is a non-profit group, and this once a year event helps to support the children’s playground, the annual Halloween Haunted House and other seasonal activities that improve the quality of life for the village and the surrounding area.

Boys of Wexford concert July 22

STONE ARABIA — The Stone Arabia Preservation Society will host the Boys of Wexford in concert Sunday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at the Stone Church.

Stone Soup concert to be held July 27

ST. JOHNSVILLE — A Stone Soup concert event will be held July 27 at 7 p.m. at Fort Klock.

Featured are Suzanne Bladek, vocalist, on guitar; Joseph Sinchak on mandolin; Nick Friers on guitar; Peter Liljeberg on bass; and multi-talented David Bladek. This concert is held in the Dutch barn. Bring lawn chairs for your comfort.

Fort Klock is open through Columbus Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
