A goal of the CYC's upcoming race is to double the size of their rock wall.

CANAJOHARIE -- The Canajoharie Community Youth Center's annual 5K Run, 1.5 Mile Walk and 1K Free Kids Run will take place Friday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. The fundraiser will raise money for the CYC, which has a variety of goals, including the expansion of the center's rock climbing wall.

$25 registration after Aug. 1 and on the day of the race. Family discounts are available. Contact the CYC for family discount information.

T-shirts will be given to the first 100 registered participants. Awards will be provided to the top male and female finisher in each age group.

The race will feature a new event this year -- an emergency services 5K challenge, wherein local service agencies (police, fire sheriff, EMS, for example) will compete. All area departments are welcome.

Refreshments provided after the race at the CYC.
