"Can't Do It Without You"

To the Editor,

A little over a year after what came to be known simply as 'the flood' we are gearing up for the 2nd Annual Standing Strong: River Through Time flood relief fundraiser on August 9 to help those in our communities still struggling to repair homes and get back to normal.

While the flood of 2013 may be drifting into our collective memories, know that there are still many people that cannot forget, reminded of the damage it did every day as they fight mold in their walls, try to rebuild lost houses, and try to pay off insurmountable bills.

To that end, we ask that you come out to join us in Haslett Park on Saturday, August 9, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for chicken barbecue, hot dogs, fresh French fries, great live music including Rumpus, Cleen Street, and the day's final performance by local favorites The Emeralds of July.

There will also be raffles for great items like; a lightweight kayak, Trek hybrid bicycle, and Wii U with Mario Kart 8.

Tickets for the chicken barbecue and raffles can be purchased in advance of the event at The Sportsman's Den in Fort Plain, and Twilight Gardens in Canajoharie.

Please buy early!

We need your help and support to make sure that we can all put the flood behind us this year. Many groups, vendors, and local businesses have come together to make this event a success, all we need now is you!

And please take a moment to give thanks for the many, many people that offered the people of Van Hornesville, Starkville, Fort Plain and everywhere in-between support through a terrible time.

Your help mucking out, pumping out, making meals, bringing water, and your donations sustained the area through a very difficult time.

We could not have done it without you!

Sincerely,

Tolga Morawski

Mohawk Valley Collective
