CANAJOHARIE — During Tuesday’s Village Board of Canajoharie meeting, Mayor Francis Avery announced that a new police chief, Bryan MacFadden, has been appointed to replace Leonard Price.

“Our police chief, Lenny Price, has been ill for some time. He has had to retire for health issues. Therefore, the Village Board has been interviewing candidates for police chief,” said Avery, who then announced the appointment, wishing MacFadden a “long stay” in the village.

MacFadden has worked for the village for nine years. He stated that before he takes over, he will be in the office two-to-three days a week to “get things in order”. Price will be available to help with the turnover, providing passwords and working on reports with MacFadden, who also noted that he’ll be meeting individually with officers with the goal of finding out “where we are, and what we need to focus on.”
