LITTLE FALLS — On Saturday evening, the St. Johnsville Alumni Association held their annual reunion at the Knights Inn, Little Falls, drawing graduates from every era, filling the banquet hall with a warm wealth of memory.

Honored during the event, which began with a social get-together from 5-6 p.m., were the 25 and 50 year groups, with six members of the Class of 1987 attending, and 14 in attendance from the Class of 1962.

Prior to the dinner portion of the event, which began at 6 p.m., Karen Crouse issued thanks to those who were instrumental in making the event possible. She also introduced Rev. David Plank to “do something new we haven’t done before,” which was to honor the present veterans — an act she noted,”is very important at this time in our life.”

Prior to the invocation, Plank described its significance, stating, “the invocation is to invoke the spirit of the creator of the universe to being in our presence,” continuing, “but, I say to you that he is already here. And to those of you who are graduates of St. Johnsville High School, the spirit you bring here tonight is already present.”

“You look around and see the contributions that you folks have made to the community, and indeed to the world, and the way that you step up to the plate to see that things get done,” said Plank.

John Mastromoro, who donated his musical services for the evening, played the appropriate tune to honor each segment of serviceman, from ARMY, to Coast Guard, to Marines, to Air Force, to US Navy, with each group asked to stand and receive applause. Those who lost loved ones or friends in service to the country were also asked to stand, with Plank stating of those standing, “On behalf of the Alumni Association we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for serving this nation and for preserving justice and peace in this world.”

The money earned at the Alumni Association Reunion will be given back to the community in the form of scholarships. The group annually provides three $500 scholarships at graduation. If you were unable to attend Saturday’s event, and would still like to donate to the Scholarship Fund, checks may be sent to Janet Shuster, 150 Crum Creek Road, St. Johnsville, NY 13452.
