Tuesday, August 12, 2014 - Updated: 4:31 AM

PALATINE BRIDGE -- A town of Mohawk man faces second-degree attempted murder charges after police said he tried to suffocate a nursing home resident with a pillow.

Edgar L. Morey, 73, of 390 Yellowville Road, was arrested and charged with the class A felony Saturday by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators received a complaint from an unnamed local nursing home alleging Morey, while visiting a patient he knew, was observed trying to suffocate the patient with a pillow.

The victim, who was not identified by gender, name, or age, was treated for injuries and remains stable, a press release said.

Morey was arraigned at Palatine town court by Judge Ron Dygert and remanded to the Montgomery County jail with bail set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
