A marijuana eradication effort last week yielded the seizure of more than 200 marijuana plants from 10 locations in Montgomery County, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The news release says locations in every town were checked on August 14, and utilized tips from the public and intelligence from the law enforcement agencies involved.

The operation was conducted Aug. 14 in cooperation with the New York Air National Guard, State Police, the state Department of Environmental Conservation and police departments of Amsterdam, Fort Plain, St. Johnsville and Gloversville.

“The local law enforcement agencies in Montgomery and Fulton County working together have made this marijuana eradication a yearly event and because of its success removed hundreds of pounds of marijuana from the streets of our communities,” the release said.

The plants were reportedly “mature” and ranged upwards of five feet in height, and their removal required extensive manpower and utilization of four-wheelers.

No arrests have been made at this time.
