CANAJOHARIE -- Mary H. Renison, of Arkell Hall, Canajoharie celebrated her 99th birthday on Aug. 2 during two special events. The first was a party at Arkell Hall on Friday, Aug. 1. Renison had lunch with Arkell residents and family, including her daughter Bonnie Kerr, of Fort Plain, and granddaughter Stephanie Young.

Joseph Fortunato, of Herndon, VA, presented Mary with a rose plant centerpiece featuring a helium-filled birthday balloon. He also provided Arkell residents with blow pipes and party napkins, along with ice cream cakes for dessert.

The second birthday event was held on Saturday, Aug. 2, as Renison attended a family luncheon at daughter Bonnie's home. Guests included her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Ellen Renison, of Bay Shore, Long Island, and granddaughter Paige Young, of Fort Plain.

Birthday greetings were extended to Renison all day through telephone calls from her other five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, along with friends from around the state and the country. Greeting cards received from her family and friends were posted on her room door as a visible remembrance of her special day.
