CANAJOHARIE -- The following news from Arkell Hall Adult Home is from Aug. 25 to Aug. 28:

Talented duo Jan and Jim provided an evening of lovely music, on saxophone and keyboard, on the Arkell porch, playing a classic-song-filled set that included "Love Will Keep Us Together" and "String of Pearls". Attendees enjoyed refreshments as they danced in their seats, some even being moved to get up and shake a leg.

Alex Bleichner, a special friend of Arkell Hall, told residents about a trip to Spain, also providing a DVD presentation. Bleichner travelled to Spain with several students from Fort Plain, Mayfield and Johnstown, touring the country by bus.

The annual steak bake and western picnic was held on the back porch Thursday, Aug. 28. Steak, baked potato, corn on the cob, baked beans and deviled eggs were served, with texas sheet cake to boot! Elinor and Friends provided music, leading the crowd in a sing-a-long of favorite western tunes like "Back in the Saddle Again" and "Happy Trails to You".

Many friends and family members were in to visit. Tom Bollen was in to see his mom. Jim and Bonnie Hoffman were in to visit Isabelle Hoffman, as were Taya Kardash and Natalie Connover. Leselie Summerfield was in to see her mom, Evadean Sierra. Kathy Van Loan was in to see her mom, Alice Kulig.
