Applications being accepted for 2014 Miss Mohawk Valley Pageant

Thursday, December 12, 2013 - Updated: 4:01 AM

Applications are now being accepted for the 2014 Miss Mohawk Valley Scholarship Pageant.

This competition is open to single young women ages 17 (and at least a high school senior) to 24 (and no older than 24 by the end of 2014) who are living, working or going to school full time in Oneida, Herkimer, Fulton or Montgomery counties.

Contestants will compete in private interview, swimwear, talent, evening gown and on stage question categories. Scholarship prizes will be made available and the winner will represent the Miss Mohawk Valley title at community events throughout the year.

The new Miss Mohawk Valley winner will also advance to the Miss New York Pageant in May and could possibly go on from there to next year’s Miss America pageant.

Immediate pre-registration is required to be a contestant in the pageant which will be held Jan 25 at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School, presented in partnership with the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Junior FFA.

The Miss Mohawk Valley Scholarship Program will also host two youth events, both Jan. 5 at the Ilion Marine Corps League, to select guest performers for the pageant later in the month.

The Little Miss Mohawk Valley Youth Pageant will award crowns and trophies in several age categories for girls ages 3 through 17 and boys ages 3 through 7. Contestants will be judged on personality, stage presence and appearance while modeling a dressy or formal outfit and being interviewed on stage.

Following the youth pageant will be the Miss Mohawk Valley Youth Talent Showcase open to boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 17. Awards will be presented in the 12 and under, 13 and over and group divisions. Winners from each event will be featured on stage during the Miss Mohawk Valley Scholarship Pageant production.

Interested eligible candidates (girls ages 13-17 at the time of the state pageant and not past their junior year in school) who present solos in the talent competition may also be considered for the title of Miss Mohawk Valley’s Outstanding Teen.

Pre-registration is required. For more information on any of these upcoming events contact Executive Director Laurie Jean Britton at (315) 717-6288 or visit
