-- Rockwell to perform on nationally televised "Christmas at Belmont"

NASHVILLE, TN -- Rocky Rockwell, a native of Canajoharie, will appear on the nationally televised "Christmas at Belmont" concert airing this season on PBS.

Hosted by internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves and taped at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center, more than 800 student musicians joined the Belmont School of Music faculty and the Nashville Children's Choir for the taping of "Christmas at Belmont." 

The annual production of traditional carols, classical masterworks, world music and light-hearted seasonal favorites, produced by Nashville Public Television (NPT), will premiere on NPT on Thurs., Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. Central. The nationwide premiere on PBS is scheduled for Fri., Dec. 20 at 9 p.m. Central, with an encore broadcast Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. Central. This is the 11th consecutive year "Christmas at Belmont" has been seen by a national audience on PBS.

-- Town office holiday schedule

ST. JOHNSVILLE -- The St. Johnsville town clerk's office and assessor's office will be closed for vacation Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, 2014. The offices will reopen for business Jan. 6, 2014.

-- St. John's Reformed Church to host Christmas Eve Candlelight service

ST. JOHNSVILLE -- A Dec. 24, Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship Service will be held at St. John's Reformed Church, 68 West Main St., St. Johnsville at 7 p.m. Thomas Flander, Jr. will lead the service, with Janet Shuster as organist. Following the service, a birthday party for Jesus Christ will be held in the Fellowship Hall with birthday cake, coffee and hot chocolate.

-- Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library switching to winter hours

CANAJOHARIE -- Starting on January 2, the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie and the Canajoharie Library will change their operating hours to a winter schedule. Winter museum hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. In addition, the library, but not the museum, will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings until 7 p.m.

Museum admission fees are going up by $1 in 2014 to help with rising costs. Starting in January 2014, adult admission will be $8, and senior and students will be $6. Children under 12 will continue to be free when accompanied by an adult.  Members enjoy free admission to the museum exhibitions. Membership can be purchased on-line at
