Arkell Adult Home News - 12/26/2013

CANAJOHARIE -- The following news from Arkell Hall Adult Home is for Dec. 9 through Dec. 20:

NBT Bank employees joined everyone for noon lunch Monday, Dec. 9, to celebrate the holiday season. Residents assembled Christmas mugs to be donated to the Fulmont Center in Fort Plain. Residents also had cookies and decorated on Dec. 10.

Little Friends Nursery School visited Arkell Wednesday, Dec. 11, to read stories, sing songs and pass out Christmas hugs to residents. In the afternoon, Christmas bingo was played with advisory members Dorothy Mailloux and Nancy Mace, which included fun prizes.

Residents went shopping and watched movies Thursday, Dec. 12. The special annual resident, tenant, board of directors Christmas dinner party was held. Leo Milman entertained with violin music, as did Elinor Douglass on keyboard, leading a Carol Sing. Santa Claus also stopped for a visit.

Bible study reading was held with Mary Simpson, talking on the Advent wreath.

Carolyn Crouch and Anne and Alice Cooper brought special Christmas music to Arkell Monday, Dec. 17, at 3 p.m. with Carolyn on piano and Ann and Alice playing the flute.

The seasonal week tops off with three big events. Nearly 80 people attended the Second Time Around big band Christmas concert at Arkell Center; an open house tea for residents, family, friends, and friends of the hall, in full silver tea service; Santa party gift exchange and music with Elinor and Friends.
