CANAJOHARIE -- Last Tuesday evening, the last of three holiday concerts took place at the Canajoharie High School, featuring Christmas performances by the CHS Show Choir, 6th Grade Choir, Saxophone Quartet, 7th and 8th Grade Orchestra, High School Choir, and High School Concert Band.

The choirs were directed by Nicholas Anker, the Saxophone Quartet and High School Concert band directed by Timothy Field, and the 7th and 8th Grade Orchestra directed by Leo Milman.

People rapidly filled the Canajoharie High School's Arkell Auditorium, as did holiday spirit, as colorful red and green snowflake projections shone on the walls. From the outset of the concert -- a lively performance of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" by the Show Choir, who sang in couple-formations, boys standing and girls sitting, with the male performers beckoning the girls to join them in dance --the mood was set, and energy prevailed, especially during an upbeat performance of "I'm a Believer" by the 6th Grade Choir, who shook and shimmied through the number, at one point letting loose as Anker directed.

Some of the sets featured performances of non-holiday songs that fit the evening's vibe perfectly, such as a performance of "Final Countdown" by the 7th and 8th Grade Orchestra, which flowed perfectly into the set's closing number, "We Wish You A Merry Christmas."

The concert was capped off by a performance of "Christmas Day Fantasy on Old Carols," leading into a Christmas sing-a-long.
