Dale H. Ward

Mr. Dale H. Ward, 70, of State Highway 5S, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home following a long illness.
Born on August 23, 1941 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Howard Ward and Ruth Wheadon Ward.  
He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1959.
Mr. Ward was a Farm Equipment Mechanic working for several local dealerships until opening his own business in 1979, where he Owned and Operated Dales Repair Service for over 30 years until his  retirement.
He was a member of the Fort Plain Masonic Lodge #433 F&AM.
On September 1, 1962 at the Johnstown United Methodist Church, Dale was married to Elaine L. Sponable. Together they celebrated almost 50 years of marriage.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Elaine Ward of Fort Plain, NY; three children, Nancy Wengenack (Thomas) of Rochester, MN, Deborah Waner (Jeffrey) of Fort Plain, NY, Thomas H. Ward (Donna) of Palatine Bridge, NY; five grandchildren, Christine Ward of Palatine Bridge, NY, Christopher Ward of Palatine Bridge, NY, Jordan Waner of Fort Plain, NY, Timothy Wengenack of MN, John Wengenack of MN; maternal uncle, Arthur Wheadon; cousin, Judith King (Keith).
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. R.W. Williams officiating.  
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Charles John “Chaz” Smith III

Mr. Charles John “Chaz” Smith, III, 48, of East Main Street, Nelliston, New York passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home.
Born on March 4, 1964 in Tokyo, Japan, he was the son of Charles J. Smith, Jr. and Hiroko Smith and step-mother, Deb Smith. He was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1982.
Chaz was a proud assistant Coach for the Fort Plain Baseball Team.  He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing and spending time with his step-grandchildren Zhayne and Maiya.
He touched many lives at Lewies Market.  Currently, Mr. Smith was employed with Richardson Brands.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
Mr. Smith is survived by his four children; sons, Charlie and Zachary and their mother, Andrea Weakley; daughters, Tiffany and Taylor and their mother, Jill Smith; live in companion, Melissa Souvannason; three siblings, Allen Smith (Rhonda), Tracy Wilder, David J. Smith.  He was the proud Uncle of Christopher, Joshua, Tyler, Kayla and Hunter.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.  
Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
