Elizabeth H. (Cummings) Tyler
October 29, 2012

Elizabeth H. (Cummings) Tyler, a lifelong resident of Sharon Springs, died Monday, October 29, 2012 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown after a short       illness. She was 86.
Born in Cherry Valley on January 23, 1926, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Marvin and Laura (Lane) Cummings.
Elizabeth was a 1945 graduate of Sharon Springs Central School. For thirty years, she was a seamstress for Canajoharie Manufacturing. She also worked for Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation; the former Maples Adult Home in Sharon Springs and Kling Farms.  
She was a longtime member of the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Tyler and her companion Ronald Carter, of Palatine Bridge; four sons, James Tyler of Center Square, Robert (Bonnie) Tyler of Sharon Springs, Richard Tyler of Gulfport, MS, and Roland (Jean) Tyler Jr. of Virgil (Cortland County); a brother, Francis Cummings of Schenectady; a sister, Bernice Garth of Mason City, IA; fourteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
She married Roland R. Tyler Sr. on June 30, 1951. He died January 20, 1970.
She was pre-deceased by four brothers, Robert, Walter, Elmer, and Arthur Cummings; and three sisters, Fanny Jones, Ida Mae Cummings, and Ruby Cummings.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Sharon Cemetery.  
Cremation was at Hillington Crematory, Morris.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Springs Volunteer Rescue Squad, POB 154, Sharon Springs, NY 13459, or to Friends of Bassett, 1 Atwell Road, Cooperstown, NY 13326.

Anthony S. Luzinas
November 4, 2012

Anthony S. Luzinas, 57, of Amsterdam passed away at his home       suddenly on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
He was born in Amsterdam, NY, the son of the late Anthony J. and  Frances Raila Luzinas on May 27, 1955.
Anthony is a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. He was last employed by Noteworthy Co. in Amsterdam.
He married Linda Smith on April 1, 1978, they shared a loving union of almost 35 years.
Tony loved his family, he took pride in his children and was a      devoted grandfather. He enjoyed watching Nascar Sunday, boating, fishing and listening to music by a campfire. He also enjoyed       spending time with his pets, Carley and Hairball.
Survivors include his wife Linda of Amsterdam, children, Melanie (John) Dowgielewicz, Matthew Luzinas and Scott Luzinas all of Amsterdam and Nicholas Luzinas of Fort Plain. Beloved                grandchildren Colton and Mackenzi Dowgielewicz and many cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 10 AM at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010. Rev. Stanislaus Swierzowski will officiate.
Family and friends are invited to visit one hour prior to the funeral service from 9AM until 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to his family in care of the funeral home office.

Norma M. Cottrell-Alter
November 2, 2012

Mrs. Norma M. Cottrell-Alter, 90, formerly of Arkell Hall, Canajoharie, New York died Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home following a brief illness.
Born on August 9, 1922 in Sidney, NY, she was the daughter of Gilbert C. Cottrell and Esther Tryon Cottrell. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1940. She also attended Albany Business College and Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. Norma had been a local area resident for over 50 years.
Mrs. Cottrell-Alter was employed as an Administrative Assistant to the President of the former Central National Bank in Canajoharie, NY for over 28 years, retiring in 1987.
She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Naval Women’s Reserve.
Mrs. Cottrell-Alter was of Roman Catholic faith.
She was a former member of the Canajoharie Country Club and the Ladies Inter County Golf Association. She was a member of the Canajoharie Seniors and of the American Legion Smith-Shultz Post #222 of Canajoharie. Mrs. Cottrell-Alter enjoyed bowling and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.
Mrs. Cottrell-Alter is survived by her daughter, Judith Anne and her husband, Leonard Horender of Fort Plain, NY; son, Louis J. Sierra, Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Canajoharie, NY; 3 granddaughters, Heather and Mark Rubeo, Wendy and Chris Scarlett, Jenna Sierra; 2 grandsons, Philip and Erin Horender, Connor Sierra; 2 great-grandchildren, Amanda Rubeo, Jonathan Rubeo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11:30am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain with Father Dennis Murphy officiating.
Burial will take place at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family with Military Honors at graveside by the US Navy.
