Beatrice Lillian Geelan
November 26, 2012

Beatrice Lillian Geelan, 82, died Monday November 26, 2012 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville.
She was born in Endicott on July 22, 1930 a      daughter of Howard and Agnes Sampson Birdsall and attended school there. At age 16, she moved with her family to Fish House and  graduated from Broadalbin High School in 1948.
Bea took great pride in raising her family and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was known to be the best cook and baker in Fish House.
Mrs. Geelan was a member of the Northampton United Methodist Church at Fish House since 1946 and was its oldest member. She was also a fifty-four year member of the American legion Auxiliary in Broadalbin. Bea belonged to the Bridgeview Girls back in the ‘50s and ‘60s as well as a bowling league.
She was married to Erwin “Odie”Geelan on July 10, 1948.  He died November 29, 2001. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Gary Birdsall and her sister, Gladys Fiori.
She is survived by a son, Gregg (Rachael) Geelan of Northville; four daughters, Brenda (Nick) Simon of Caroga Lake, twins Janet (Silvestre) LeBron and  Janice (Alex) Ross, all of Amsterdam, and Laura (James) Lanfear of Fort Plain; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the Northampton United Methodist Church at Fish House 1605 County Highway 110 Broadalbin with Rev. Jerry Oliver officiating.  
Burial will be in the Edinburg Cemetery.  
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00- 8:00 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street) Johnstown.  
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the James Brennan Memorial Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home.

Cecil C. Jones Jr.
November 20, 2012

Cecil C. Jones Jr. 81, of Smith St. Canajoharie, NY passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday November 20, 2012 after a long illness.
Born on November 16, 1931 in Middletown, NY the son of the late Cecil and Goldie Prime Jones.
Cecil was a lifelong resident of Canajoharie and was employed by Beech-Nut Nutrition for 40 years, and worked for GTE for 25 years. Cecil enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially during hunting and snowmobiling season, he also took pride on his home landscaping. He will be sadly missed.
He was predeceased by his wife Norina Yacobucci Jones whom he was married to for 60 years and a brother Richard Jones and a sister Shirley Kretser.
His family includes two sons Jeffery and his wife Tammy Jones of Fort Plain, Cecil Jones III, of Canajoharie. His two daughters are Vittorria and her husband Mark Catone of South Glens Falls and Cecilia and Frank Ottomanelli of Rotterdam. He had several grandchildren, Jeffery Jones, Sarah and Damion Wright, Andrew Dimezza, Grace Dimezza, Cara Catone and Bob Studnicky Jessica Catone, Mikali Catone, Lucia and Matt Milliman, Onofrio Ottomanelli  two cherished great grandchildren Dylan and Bryce Studnicky, two    brothers Kenneth (Phyllis) Jones, Robert (Cheryl) Jones, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  
A Christian burial service was performed at the St Peters and Paul Cemetery Canajoharie at 11:30am on November 24, 2012 and was followed by a celebration of his life at the Dome49 in Fort Plain.

Alice L. Geweye
November 26, 2012

Mrs. Alice L. Geweye, 94 years old, died Monday November 26, 2012, at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home where she had resided for the past several years.  
She was born August 30, 1918 in St. Johnsville, daughter of Solomon and Ella May Getman Oeser.  
Mrs. Geweye was a lifelong resident of the Ft. Plain area and was a member of the Fort Plain Methodist Church.  She was a past president and member of the Ft. Plain VFW Post Auxiliary and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  Alice was devoted to her family.  She loved animals and had many pets over the years.
Her husband Willis Geweye died in November of 1960.  
Alice is survived by her son John R. (Paula) Geweye of Ft. Plain, her daughter Karan (Tommy) Hinkle of Meco, her son-in-law James Williams of Gloversville, Many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two daughters Yvonne Kane and Lorraine Williams.
 Funeral services were held  11:00am Wednesday, at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY, with The Rev. Alan Griffith officiating.    
Cremation followed at Vale Crematorium in Schenectady and the burial of Cremated remains will be in Ft. Plain Cemetery.  
The family received relatives and friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Josephine Osley
November 21, 2012

Josephine Osley, 90, of Fort Plain, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2012.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Born on January 12, 1922 to the late, Joseph and Sophie Lubunski, she was a lifelong resident of the Fort Plain area.  
Josephine was a devout Roman Catholic and attended the former St. James Roman Catholic Church.  
She was united in marriage on February 25, 1950 to the late Daniel Osley, who passed April 12, 2012.  
Josephine attended Fort Plain High School.  
She worked several jobs in her life including; Anderson Department Store, The Five and Dime, Lifesaver Inc, and Lexuray in Fort Plain.      Josephine loved spending time at the family camp of 50 years named, “Takit Eazie,” located on Caroga Lake.
Josephine is survived by her loving son; Robert D. Osley (Luann), sister; Carmeta Sthaler, and special niece; Lorrie O’Connor, grandchildren; Joseph Osley (Tairyn), and Janice Dillenbeck (Burton), two great-grandchildren; Aidan Dillenbeck and Nathan Dillenbeck. She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years; Daniel Osley, brother; Chet Lubunski, sister; Ida Miller.
The family will have a memorial service at a later date at her beloved camp on the Caroga Lake.  
Donations can be made in Josephine’s memory to Catholic Charities of Montgomery County, 1 Kimball Street, Amsterdam, N.Y., 12010.  All services have been entrusted to Lenz and Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, N.Y., 13317.

Connie Bowman
November 24, 2012

Connie Bowman, 59, of Carlisle Road in Canajoharie passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam on November 24, 2012 after a brief illness. Many loving care givers and staff were by her side.  
She was born in Suffern, NY on February 15, 1953, the daughter of the late Rita Bowman.
Connie enjoyed every holiday, especially Christmas, being the life of every party she loved being with her friends and Liberty Family. She is a former member of the Fonda Fultonville Kiwanis Club and        volunteered at the Ayres Animal Shelter, she was also took part in the Activities at the Arkell Hall in Canajoharie. Connie enjoyed traveling, swimming and going shopping.
Connie is survived by many friends and her loving Liberty family. Her bright presence will be sadly missed.
Family and friends are invited to visit on November 30, 2012 at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13307 from 10:00am until 11:00am.
A funeral service for Connie will follow at 11:00a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam.

Betty Ann Bramer
November 22, 2012

Betty Ann Bramer, 74, of Langley Road, Town of Florida, NY, passed away on Thursday at her home with her loving family at her bedside.
She was born September 16, 1938 in Ft. Hunter, NY. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Anna Lohmeyer Hitchcock. Betty Ann was a lifelong area resident and attended schools in Ft. Hunter and later in Amsterdam.
She was first employed at the Fonda and Amsterdam Stewart Shops and later worked for Paul Neznek Inc. in the Town of Florida as a Bus Aide for a number of years until retiring in 1998. Betty Ann was a life member of the Florida Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and she also ran their booth at the Fonda Fair for many years.  
Betty Ann in her early years loved to dance, she also enjoyed      camping with her husband and her Pekingese and bowling in many leagues in the area. She was a big Jeff Gordon #24 NASCAR fan. She enjoyed life with her family and grandchildren and so many in the community referred to her as “Mom or Aunt Betty.”  
On April 6, 1957 she married Leland R. Bramer who passed away September 28, 1997.  She was also predeceased by a daughter Mary Ann Humphrey who passed away December 27, 2011.  
Betty Ann was also predeceased by her siblings Howard Hitchcock, Floyd Hitchcock, Jr. and Josephine Huggins.  
Survivors include five sons: Leland (Mary) Bramer of West Charlton, NY, Darrell (Renee) Bramer of  Waldorf, Maryland, Leslie (Diane) Bramer of Amsterdam, Dean Bramer of Ballston Spa, and Duane (Michelle Szala) Bramer of Amsterdam; a daughter, Lynn (Ed) LaPan of Amsterdam; a son-in-law, Don Humphrey of Fultonville; two brothers, Wilson (Betty Lou) Hitchcock of Clinton, TN, and Raymond (Donna) Hitchcock of Burnt Hills, NY; seven grandchildren, Katrina, Kasarah, Carly, Zachary, Hannah, Devin and LeAnn; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 26 at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Thomas Gregg officiating.  
Burial took place in Chuctanunda Cemetery in Minaville.  
Family received relatives and friends on Sunday, November 25 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.  
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Florida Volunteer Fire Department, 6252 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny’s Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Stella M. Lupo

Miss Stella M. Lupo, 75, of Shaper Avenue, Canajoharie, New York died Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville following a long illness.
Born on November 13, 1937 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the      daughter of Samuel R. Lupo and Carmeta Theresa Tiberio Lupo.  
She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1955 and was a lifelong resident of Canajoharie.
Miss Lupo was a Clerical worker at Beech-Nut in Canajoharie for over 25 years.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Miss Lupo was a member of the Beech-Nut 25 Year Club. She enjoyed crocheting. She was strongly devoted to her faith and was a long time caretaker for her family. Stella was a much loved Aunt that was also involved with her niece and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Daniel J. Lupo.
Miss Lupo was survived by her niece, Danielle Mann of Atlanta, GA; nephews, Stephen Lupo of FL, Michael Lupo of PA, John Lupo of Canajoharie, NY; as well as several cousins.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Spring at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 with burial following in St. Peter’s & Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Canajoharie, NY. Arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Miss Stella Lupo may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.

Linda C. Folts

Linda C. Folts, 60, Freysbush Rd., Fort Plain, passed away November 17, 2012 in the Town of Danube.
She was born October 16, 1952 in Little Falls the daughter of David and Lois (Carpenter) Hart. She married Earl Folts on October 16, 1985, he predeceased her in 1992.
A lifelong area resident, she was educated in Little Falls Schools. Linda worked for many years at the former Fort Plain Packing Company and then at Kas-Kell in Fonda. She sang with Dave Hazzard Country Band many times. She also had a great love of animals and her favorite companion, a Jack Russel, named Sugar. Her favorite time of year was fall.
Survivors include her mother, Lois Ripley, daughter Melissa Folts, granddaughters: Gerricka Fahy and Braylynn Fahy, step-children: Eletha Cook, Rodney Folts, Gary Folts, Earl Folts Jr., Robert Folts, Earlene Rice, siblings: Donald Hart, David Hart, Kathy Fuller, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father, husband, and step-daughter Francis “Poog” Goodsil.
A graveside service is planned for December 1, 2012 at 11 AM in Freysbush Cemetery.
