Recognizing SRPs

To the editor:

Tuesday, November 20th, is School-Related Professionals Recognition day in

New York State. The third Tuesday in November is the day designated by the state Legislature as a special statewide recognition day for School-Related Professionals. SRPs work long and hard each day as partners in education with other school staff on both the front lines and behind the scenes.

SRPs help to educate our children and keep them healthy. SRPs safely transport children to and from school, keep our building safe and clean, run the offices efficiently and provide nutritious food.

Who are the SRPs? They are our school bus drivers and attendants, cafeteria workers, teacher’s aides, maintenance and grounds keepers, clerical and support staff in our school.

On behalf of the Fort Plain Teachers Association I’d like to thank the hard working SRP’s in our district. It’s a pleasure to work with such true professionals.

Patrick Hanifin, President,

Fort Plain Teachers Association

Lady Toppers offer appreciation

To the editor:

The Lady Hilltoppers Basketball Program would like to thank everyone who came out to see the Harlem Superstars Comedy Basketball Team play the Fort Plain Dream Team last Friday night. It was a night filled with laughs and images not to be forgotten.

This event could not have taken place without the approval and support of School Superintendent Mr. Burton, Building Principals Ms. Larrabee and Mrs. Brucker, the custodial staff for their hard work before and after the game, Mrs. Boylan for selling tickets in school, Kelly Van Loan of Kelly’s Korner Kuts for selling tickets in town and working in the concession stand, all of the merchants who agreed to hang posters in their windows, Pat Hanifin for promoting the game and hanging signs in school, Charlie and Lisa Trembley for overseeing the front door, Tim and Stacy Conrad for ticket sales, Charlie Karker for keeping the clock during the game, Angie Barhdyt for the amazing baked goods, and Joe and Barb Kilmartin for running the concession stand during the game.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank those individuals who participated in the game — School Board President Todd McFee for his officiating, Meagan Kane, John Fureno, Geoff Snyder, Justin Lathers, Kristy Mcfee, Phil Thibodeau, Ian Van Loan, Jay Jarabek and the “Irish Flash” — Paddy O’Furniture.

Finally, we would like to thank the Harlem Superstars and Brig. General (ret.) George Mitchell for their efforts and commitment to character education in schools by bringing their message to school children around the country.

Thank you for your support.
