Myra Beam Lamphere passed away Tuesday morning, August 25, 2015. Myra was born February 21, 1927 the daughter of Emery E. and Edith Woodbeck Baxter in Roseboom. 
 During her life she helped her first husband run the farm for many years; she also worked at Beechnut/Lifesavers for 43 years. 
Myra was a member of the Beech-Nut  25 year club and the Salem United Methodist Church.

FPCS sports physical pre-screening/physicals to be held Aug. 10 and 11

FORT PLAIN -- Fort Plain Central School will have pre-screening for summer sports physicals on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 8-10 a.m. The pre-screening consists of height, blood pressure, pulse, standard urine sample for kidney function and a health history. The pre-physical screening must be done before the doctor is able to do the actual physical. Physicals will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 8:30 a.m., so arrive early. Rhodes, Klock earn all-state honors

Amsterdam junior Ben Rhodes and Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville junior Dylan Klock both earned all-state recognition in baseball Tuesday from the New York State Sportswriters Association.
Rhodes, a third baseman, was named to the fifth team in Class A after hitting .420 for the Rams and leading the team to the Section II Class A semifinals.
