Title: Lawsuit Filed After Customer Allegedly Attacked by Popeyes Employees in Atlanta Drive-Thru

In a shocking incident that took place in September 2022, a customer at a Popeyes restaurant in Atlanta was allegedly attacked by employees in the drive-thru. Denetra Dawson is now seeking justice through a lawsuit against the individuals involved and the company that owns the restaurant.

The incident unfolded at the Popeyes location on Cleveland Avenue in southwest Atlanta. Dawson claims that she attempted to have her order corrected when the employees turned violent, pulling out a chunk of her hair and leaving her bruised. It is believed that words were exchanged between Dawson and the employees before the attack occurred.

According to a lawyer working on the case, one employee even entered Dawson’s vehicle and physically assaulted her. Dawson managed to stop the attack by pulling out a gun and immediately called the Atlanta Police for assistance. The authorities have since charged two individuals with battery, while another person faces a misdemeanor obstruction of an officer charge.

Dawson’s physical and emotional scars run deep, and she feels that her identity was stripped away by this brutal incident. The lawsuit targets both the perpetrators and the company that owns the Popeyes franchise. The lawyer argues that the restaurant’s manager, who had a criminal history involving violent acts, was negligently hired without proper background checks.

In response to the incident, Popeyes stated that it maintains “absolutely no tolerance for violence of any kind” in its restaurants. The franchisee of the Popeyes location has confirmed the occurrence and reassured that the employees involved were immediately terminated.

As the lawsuit progresses, it will be interesting to see how both the accused individuals and Popeyes defend themselves in court. Questions surrounding the hiring process and employee vetting will likely come under scrutiny as well.

Dawson’s bravery in coming forward and seeking justice serves as a powerful reminder that all customers deserve a safe and respectful experience at any establishment. This unfortunate incident highlights the importance of maintaining thorough background checks and fostering a culture of zero tolerance for violent behavior within the foodservice industry.
